... for with the heart a person
believes ... Romans 10:10
Most of us began our
Christian walk with great enthusiasm, looking forward to being
transformed into the image of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Many of us
were taught to go to church faithfully, read our bibles consistently
and pray unceasingly. Thus we would be transformed and equipped to
bring the kingdom of God into the earth.
As a rule, the formula hasn’t
worked. Some have labored long; some have given up quickly; but few
have experienced significant transformation. And even fewer believe
themselves equipped to minister truth and life effectively.
Why isn’t it working? What
are we doing wrong?
Proverbs 20:5 describes our
hearts in this way: “A plan in the heart of a man is like deep
water, but a man of understanding draws it out.”
The plans hidden in our
hearts began forming in the womb in response to the sins of others,
hurts, pains and misunderstandings. It is in this atmosphere of
darkness that we begin the process of forming a plan deep within our
hearts. Usually, this plan is a “Plan Of Escape From Pain.” For some
of us, that means “Longing For Death;" for others, it means “Trying
Really Hard;" for others, it means “Resignation.”
Unless we learn to draw out
that heart-level plan, placing it before the Lord, all our efforts
to transform ourselves by working hard and doing all the right
things will fail. This is because “What We Believe In Our Hearts”
determines who we really are. The scripture teaches us that we
"believe with the heart" (Romans 10:10). Unless our heart-level
beliefs are brought to the surface, all our labor is as worthless as
painting over rust.
So what does the heart
believe? The heart believes “What It Feels.” If you felt that your
parents did not want you, then, to your heart, that is truth. If you
felt like God betrayed you when he selected your birth
circumstances, then to your heart, God is treacherous.
... for with
the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with
the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. Romans 10:10
For as he
thinks in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7 (AMP)
Trust in Him
at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a
refuge for us. Selah. Psalm 62:8
The Pool Ministries is
devoted to helping you become a person of understanding, able to
draw out from your heart, and from the hearts of others, the plans
hidden deep within. Thus begins true transformation from the inside
out.
