1. We believe that the Holy Bible
was written by men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. 2 Timothy
3:16.
2. We believe that there is only
one true Creator God who is revealed in three persons: Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1 & 26; John 1:1-2 & 14; John 14:26; John
15:26.
3. We believe in the deity of the
Lord Jesus Christ and that Jesus is the sinless Son of God,
conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. Jesus is both
human and divine. Matthew 1:18-25; Hebrews 2:16-18; Hebrews 4:5;
Colossians 1:15-17; Philippians 2:6-8.
4. We believe that man and woman
are created in the image of God, but fell into sin which resulted in
ushering death, both physical and spiritual, into the world. Genesis
1:27; Romans 5:12-14; Romans 6:23.
5. We believe that all people can
enter into restored fellowship with God through salvation. Salvation
results when a person confesses with his mouth that Jesus is Lord,
and believes in his heart that God raised Jesus Christ from the
dead. Romans 10:9-10.
6. We believe that Jesus Christ
paid the price once and for all to secure forgiveness for sin for
all humankind. Anyone can receive this forgiveness through accepting
the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on the cross. 1 John 2:2; Hebrews
10:12-14.
7. We believe that water baptism
by immersion is an outward sign of the spiritual truth that the
believer’s old way of life is buried in death and that the believer
has been raised to a new way of life now that he has acknowledged
Jesus Christ as his Lord. Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12.
8. We believe in the Communion of
the saints by the sharing of food and fellowship in honor of the
Lord Jesus Christ and in remembrance of his life, suffering and
victory over sin and death. Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.
9. We believe that the baptism in
the Holy Spirit is a subsequent experience to salvation that
empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it
did in New Testament times. We believe that this experience is
available to all believers and that the best evidence of this
experience is the ability to speak in tongues. Acts 1:5, 8: Acts
2:4.
The Pool Ministries believes
that tongues are primarily given to the individual believer as a
prayer language for personal edification and intercession. I
Corinthians 14:2,4; Romans 8:26-27; Ephesians 6:18; Jude 20. From
time to time, as the Spirit of God wills, a manifestation of tongues
with interpretation may be given during a corporate church gathering
for exhortation, edification, or consolation. I Corinthians 12:10;
14:3, 26.
10. We believe that the Church is
the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time,
have accepted God's offer of redemption (regardless of religious
denomination) through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 4:4; Hebrews 10:14-16.
11. We believe in the priesthood
of the believer. 1 Peter 2:5; Revelation 1:6.
12. We believe that God desires
his people to be healed and whole, spirit, soul and body. Psalm
103:3; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; 3 John 2.
13. We believe in the return of
the Lord Jesus Christ. Hebrews 9:28; Acts 1:11. |
